65 Boko Haram members in the net as army imposes 24-hour curfew in Maiduguri

At least 65 suspected Boko Haram members have been arrested while fleeing from heavy bombardment of targets in Borno State by Nigerian troops.

A statement by the joint military force deployed to Nigeria’s troubled North-East a day ahead of Tuesday’s imposition of emergency rule on Borno, Yobe and Adamawa said the suspects were nabbed while trying to enter Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, the military spokesman in the state which served as Boko Haram’s stronghold before the emergency rule this afternoon announced the imposition of a “24-hour curfew” 12 neighbourhoods of Maiduguri.

Col. Musa in a statement said the indefinite curfew apply toGamboru, Mairi Kuwait, Bakin Kogi, Kasuwan Shanu, Ruwan Zafi, 202 Quarters, Dikwa Quarters, Low-Cost Sinimari, 505 Housing Estate, Chad Basin Area, 303 Housing Estate and Baga Road.

The Military Joint Task Force (JTF) Borno spokesman appealed to the public to continue to cooperate with the security agencies by providing credible and timely information which can assist in bringing lasting peace to the state and the country at large.
