Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said on Sunday that his administration is exploring every means to reduce the unemployment situation in the state and make it investment friendly.

He made the assertion through the State Commissioner for Housing, Alhaji Shehu Haruna, at the Kano State Special Day in the just concluded 2015 Lagos International Trade Fair, at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.

Ganduje said the state is opening its frontier for domestic and international investors and providing every required enabling environment for the success of any investment.

His words: “Indeed, you will all agree with me that the level of unemployment in the country is alarming, Kano state being the most populous has a great share of the ugly situation. That being the case, we are devising various means in which our capital projects will be linked to investments and tailored towards achieving greater socio-economic development that pave way to jobs creation.”

The governor noted that, as a nation we are faced with global challenges whose solution lies in the number of jobs created, adding: “We have to add the issue of unemployment by initiating various programmes as well as paying adequate attention to the root causes of the economic problems facing the nation in general.”

Continuing he said: “Kano state support any endeavour that create the opportunities to showcase investment potentials and business prospects existing especially in agro based small and medium scale industries in the state.

“The investments in educational and agricultural sectors embarked upon in the state will provide qualitative and competency based education with increased agricultural productivity. The combined efforts will lead to self employment and provision of raw materials for the sustenance of small and medium enterprises,” he posited.

Ganduje however called on all interested investors to join hands with the state government to sign public private partnership agreement in critical areas like Solid Minerals, Mining industry/equipment, Renewable Energy, Solar Power, Wind Power and Electrical and Electronics appliances amongst others.
