Why Igbo youths want Biafra —Ohanaeze chieftain

A chieftain of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Ozo Anaekwe, has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari’s marginalisation of Ndigbo in his few months in office for the renewed agitation for Biafra by the members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in the South-East and South-South parts of the country.

Anaekwe, who spoke with newsmen in Onitsha, said that Buhari’s utterances, policies and actions spurred the agitation by the members of IPOB and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).

“How can you appoint people to govern Nigeria and you ignored Ndigbo with their mammoth population and contribution to the development of this country? And since Buhari became President, he had never uttered a word or taken action that would bring peace to this country. He has not acted like a statesman. He is on a revenge mission. He talks as if he is on a war front,” said Anaekwe.

He said that the protest by the members of IPOB was as a result of the continuous marginalisation, intimidation and injustice meted out to their people. (Sunday Sun)
