Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba on Saturday in Jalingo sworn in 20 commissioners and urged them to fashion out plans that would enhance economic development of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event came exactly one week after the State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja nullified his election and declared Sen. Aisha Alhassan as the winner.
Ishaku, who arrived Jalingo Airport about 11:30 a.m from Abuja, was received by large crowd of supporters.
The governor, however, urged the new commissioners to quickly key into his rescue mission to cover up for the time lost.
“As core pillars of the rescue mission; I urged you to fashion out strategic master plans to speed up the rescue mission.
“I also urge you to fashion out plans to develop and sustain an economy which would be equal to none amongst states in the North-East.”
The governor said that he had confidence in the judiciary and expressed optimism that the 'kangaroo judgement of the tribunal' would be upturned by the Appeal Court.
He said that he believed God that the Appeal Court and possibly the Supreme Court would restore the judgment and restore his mandate.
NAN reports that Ishaku also launched his ‘Rescue Agenda’ at the occasion, which hinged on the seven pillars of Health, Education, Economic development, agriculture, peace and security among others. (NAN)
