Group exposes plot to impose corrupt official as UI Chief Bursar

A group in the University of Ibadan, Transparent Campus Group, has alerted the general public and the institution, through its fact-finding, over a conspiracy to impose a corrupt official as the

Chief Bursar of the institution.

In a press statement signed by its Co-ordinator, Mr. Tola Adegoke, the group alleged that it is aware of plans by some members of the management of the institution to manipulate the process of selection of the Chief Bursar.

Also contained in the statement: “We are not against anybody’s progress, but we don’t want a situation where corrupt officials will be appointed as the head of bursary department at the expense of the development of the institution; Our organisation through our fact-finding team has discovered the desperate moves of one of the applicants, who was said to have been holding a series of meetings with different associations – including academic and non-academic unions.”

Olagoke said “From our investigations, we have also discovered that one of the applicants’ sudden rise to affluence is questionable. How can somebody whose annual pay is not up to six

million naira be buying exotic cars and buying properties in plush area of the city of Ibadan, apart from sending members of his family to private universities where he pays huge amount of money?”

The group however called on those concerned to be conscious of the fact that such a practice should not be allowed in the change era of President Muhammadu Buhari, but ensure accountability and transparency.

“While we are calling on those concerned to be conscious of the fact that we are now in the change era, we should ensure transparency and accountability in compliance with the vision and agenda of President Muhamadu Buhari led government.”

The group also advised the new Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole and his caucus at the university not to identify himself or support any corrupt officers as attempt to do so will continue to drag his name and integrity in the mud.
