The Federal High Court sitting in the Anambra State capital, Awka, this afternoon vacated the ex-parte order it placed on the new National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) led by Chief Maxi Okwu.

Okwu and his team were elected at APGA’s National Congress held in Awka on April 8, only to be restrained from functioning by Justice M. T. Salihu of the Federal High Court Awka exactly a week later following an application brought before it by one Charles Nwazojie of the Victor Umeh faction.

“The Federal High Court sitting in Awka this afternoon vacated the ex-parte order it placed on me and my national executive committee of APGA elected on 8th April 2013. To God be the glory,” Okwu announced this afternoon in a short statement on his Facebook wall.

News Express learnt that Chief Umeh was apparently stunned by the judgement and took about one hour to gather himself together and quietly leave the court premises to jeers from a crowd of APGA stalwarts who were chanting victory songs and hailing a triumphant Chief Okwu.

The outcome of today’s court session vindicated Chief Okwu, who in accepting the April 15 judgement against him said: “As a counsel with 35 years of experience, I will abide by that direct court order on me until it is set aside. I concede that the plaintiffs who are merely surrogates of our political opposition have scored a pyrrhic victory, as it will be set aside shortly.”
