At last, the young man behind the highly hilarious Papito character in Wazobia 95.1 fm station has been quietly unmasked successfully recently byour Contributing Editor, IFECHI OKOH who talked with him extensively on all that may matter to our teeming followers about himself and the Papito character. Who actually is Papito Beyond all the programmes he shows colour on Wazobia 95.1FMstation?

Good! Papito, also known as Papi spending is really known and addressed outside the Wazobia FM station as Shadrack Oluwapamilerin Yusuf. I am from Sagamu town, in OgunState. The fourth child among the five children from our parents. I am a Mass communication graduate of the Redeemers University, Ede. I am 5ft, 5inches in height, and I am an upcoming act in the Nigerian music industry.

When did your multi-comical dispositions start to rear their heads in you and what steps did you take to maximize their total manifestations?

Well, these comical gifts have always been in me from the onset. However, these Papito characters started to manifest themselves in me when I joined Wazobia as a hype reader. But this was not until I became a full- fleshed Presenter on Wazobia and also began to do my skits. It was exactly that moment, these comical characters showed themselves.

Did your parents discover these multi-dimensional comical dispositions earlier and did they embrace them?

Please be informed that my mum was a socialite. Infact, she was usually the toast of the party. I strongly believe that I took after her naturally. Incidentally, I look like her too. But as to whether they encouraged or discouraged me, I would say yes and no, in some ways. Like the typical and decent Nigerian patents, who would love to see their children dress decently and behave well too, they didn’t want to see me colour my hair like some of my peer group members who did such without being challenged. They frowned seriously at such, so I didn’t join them in the name of showbusiness.

Any mentor(s) and what were their specific contributions?

Well, not quite. My only mentor was our Personnel Manager, Uche Nwaneri (a.k.a Stretch). So far, he's been fantastic in his programmes mentoring. Honestly, he’s been a strong adviser and guardian on and off air. In all sincerity, he has done more than well for me till date.

In fact, he paved way for the Papito game show and even introduced the catchy phrase“Papi spending in dollars or the Papi money bag alias.”

When did you actually join the Wazobia station?

That was in 2018 as a full- fleshed Presenter, after being a hype reader for quite sometime. When the Football Republic commentators team was about to be constituted, I was informed and also asked to join them as a clown, providing the necessary comical relief when fans tension may have become obviously high. It was usually at this point in time that I threw my very comical jokes to douse the obvious tension in the air. Happily, they achieved the psychological effects they were meant to. When it was discovered that I could also make very intelligent contributions, I was invited for an interview where I was screened before I started contributing and also doubling as a clown as arranged earlier. To make my clowning very interesting, I introduced the gods of sandiaego, whom, at times, I say have side chicks, to achieve the total effect on the listerner who may have been tensed somehow.

Do you exhibit the comical Papito character during your outside MC jobs, just to make them refreshingly different?

Yes,of course, because there's no limit to this comical dispositions which is very funny too. The character is usually dominant and also very funny. I always try to be as flexible as possible with the Papito characters. This is specifically to make me remain as fresh as possible at all times. That’s how I have held down my teeming fans till date. I thank God for such super grace.

Has there been any fallout from the outside audience who may have thought otherwise about the Papito characters?

Well, it is yet to happen because I am mindful of it and as such try not to provide space for it. However, nobody can predict what humans can do at anypoint in time. Althoughas a trained broadcaster, who is aIso into the entertainment business, I expect that.
