Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the renaming of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to Ministry of Industry.

Soludo announced the change during the Executive Council meeting in Awka on Monday.

According to a press release by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, will henceforth be addressed as the Commissioner for Industry.

He said that the Trade and Commerce aspect of the Ministry will until further notice, be domiciled under the Governor’s Office, which by implication, means that all activities relating to trade and commerce should be channeled to the Governor’s Office.

While stating that the reorganisation is with immediate effect, the statement added: “The decision is to enable the Ministry of Industry focus on the industrialisation agenda of Mr. Governor, and for greater performance.”
