Anambra youths under the aegis of Anambra Youth Assembly (AYA), Anambra North Senatorial Zone Chapter, have warned the Senator representing Anambra Central, Dr. Chris Ngige, to desist from attacking the state governor, Mr. Peter Obi.
AYA said that contrary to Ngige’s claim that Obi is underperforming, Anambra youths never had it so good until the emergence of Obi as governor some seven years ago.
The youths challenged Ngige to come forward and show his performance while he illegally occupied the office of governor before the courts removed him and installed Obi, whose mandate he had stolen during the 2003 elections.
“We regret that during Ngige administration, the only job available to the youths was thuggery and absurd jobs. We don’t want analogue names again in the race for Anambra governorship. This becomes clearer when Ngige selfishly underrated Mr. Peter Obi’s monumental achievements in his publications,” said AYA President, Comrade Chinedu Obidigwe, during a press conference yesterday in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
Comrade Obidigwe, who addressed the press alongside the association’s Secretary, Comrade Nnamdi Malive, also announced a ban from public functions on Chief Ralph Okeke, a former representative of Anambra East/West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for what AYA termed his unguided statements against the people of the zone.
Okeke’s sin was his recent media statement that Anambra North Senatorial Zone has no capable hand to contest the next governorship election in the state. Obidigwe said the statement was not only insulting to the people of the zone but also selfish.
“We the youths declare that Hon Ralph Okeke only believes in his own personal gains and not the interests of his people, just as he is vying for deputy governor to a yet to be known candidate against the wishes of his people,” Obidigwe said. “It is evidently clear that he is not interested in the welfare of his people and as such, we hereby ban him from participating in stakeholders’ functions from henceforth,” he added.
