APGA Presidential Candidate, Prof Umeadi
By PETER ANOSIKE
The Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Peter Umeadi, has condoled with the victims of the floods currently ravaging different parts of the Country.
Recall that over 700 Nigerians have died and over a million people displaced in what has become the worst flooding in a decade in the country.
In a statement by the Spokesman of Umeadi-Muhammed Campaign Organization, Ita Ekpo, Umeadi said that he was shocked down to his marrow over the loss of lives as well as the magnitude of damage done by the flood.
According to the statement, Prof. Umeadi blamed leadership failure as the main cause of most of the mishaps in the Country.
He said that “if we have the right leadership, proactive measures would have been put in place to guard against some of these natural occurrences.”
“Most states of the federation that have been receiving ecological funds have seen it as free money, forgetting that no matter how long summer lasts, winter coat is still very important and as such must not be discarded,” the statement added.
He explained that it was some of these lapses in the polity that motivated him to come out to run for the office of the president in order to put in place, global standard of doing things as well as international best practices in governance.
“I, Prof. Peter Umeadi, the Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, on behalf of the members of Umeadi-Muhammed Campaign Organization, deeply express our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families of the flood victims, the injured and all affected by this natural calamity.
“Our prayers are also with those who are still missing as a result of this natural disaster. We pray for their early and safe recovery. Furthermore, we call on the relevant authorities to look into the usage of ecological funds because over the years, there has not been transparency in the use of this very important fund,” the statement reads in part.
