PDP Senators move to scuttle Amaechi’s confirmation as a minister

Senators belonging to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have drawn the dagger, vowing to frustrate the confirmation of former Rivers State governor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, and possibly Oyo State nominee, Dr. Adebayo Shittu, as ministers.

“The PDP Senators have resolved to stop the confirmation of Amaechi and Shittu, but especially Amaechi,” a source told News Express. The source said that the decision was taken at a closed-door metting of PDP Senators held yesterday after plenary.

The screening of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees was concluded yesterday, with the Senate billed to regroup today to announce their decision on the 18 yet to be confirmed.

News Express recalls that PDP Senators had boycotted the screening of Amaechi, last week Thursday, following protests that the report of the Senate Committee on Ethics which investigated petitions against him had yet to be submitted for consideration.
