The Nigerian Senate has concluded the screening of ministerial nominees sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Screening of nominees entered a second day this week today, with the Senate quizzing five of the persons in the list of 38 ministerial nominees.

The ministerial nominees screened are Okechukwu Enelamah (Abia), Anwuka Anthony (Imo), Mohammed Musa Bello (Adamawa), Adamu Adamu (Bauchi) and Aisha Abubakar (Sokoto).

Ms Abubakar, who had a petition against her, was asked to take a bow.

All the nominees have been screened but only 18 of them have been confirmed by the Senate.

The remaining 18 are also expected to be confirmed at plenary tomorrow, as indicated by the Senate President, Bukula Saraki, after the screening.

Yesterday, six ministerial nominees spent an average of an hour each at the Upper Chamber before the lawmakers, as different questions were put to them on different issues.

The questions bordered on corruption, education, politics and the economy.

The first nominee to appear was Prof. Isaac Folorunso Adewole. He spent over an hour before the lawmakers and answered questions on education and health. Eventually, he was told to bow and go.

The next nominee that generated such interest was Zainab Ahmed, who was taken up on the Nigerian oil sector and the issue of leakages in the system.

Other nominees who also took their turns at the chamber were Bawa Bwari, Geoffrey Onyeama, Mohammed Dan Ali and Usani Uguru and Usani Uguru. (Channels TV)
