SUPER Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has expressed disappointment at Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Algeria B, but he believes that there are positives to take from the result.
The Nottingham Forest striker, however, said he’s not under pressure to score.
“It was a good game, but it’s unfortunate that we couldn’t win,” Awoniyi told NFF TV.
“Nonetheless, it was a game for us to know each other, to understand how we all play.
Awoniyi failed to find the target for Nigeria, but he said he’s under no pressure because a striker’s role is not just about scoring goals.
Nigeria played out a 2-2 draw against a second-string Algeria side on Friday in a test match. The Super Eagles showed promise on the night, but the Algerians matched everything they brought to the table.
Algeria took the lead in the first half, but goals from Alex Iwobi and Cyriel Dessers provided a way back. Unfortunately, poor decision-making from Maduka Okoye ensured it ended 2-2. (The Nation)
