The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has congratulated Senator Godswill Akpabio on what it described as a well-deserved judicial affirmation of his candidacy for the 2023 Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial election, saying that it is a victory for democracy.

The judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had on Thursday affirmed the candidacy of Senator Akpabio.

A statement signed by the Chairman, Otuekong Iniobong John, Media and Publicity Committee, APC, Akwa Ibom State chapter said that Akwa Ibom State needs a national icon like Akpabio in the next Senate for the reason that he is someone who would speak and the entire National Assembly would listen.

Also that he is someone who would be able to attract national attention to the state.

The statement partly reads: “He was in the senate between 2015 and 2019, he made the entire state his constituency. His constituency projects were spread to every part of the state.

“We appreciate the loyalty, patience, tenacity, faith, support, perseverance and confidence demonstrated by the teeming members, supporters and fans of our great party in the state.

“We appreciate the commitment, industry, brilliance and sacrifice demonstrated by the legal team.

“As from now on, our party shall be moving from victory to victory till we take over the hilltop mansion in 2023.”
