Sokoto State PDP Leader, Governor Tambuwal
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost about 1,868 members from its party after they defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State.
The state PDP spokesman, Malam Hassan Sanyinnawal, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
Sanyinnawal said PDP Chairman, Bello Goronyo, has received the defectors yesterday in the state and he assured them of equal treatment with other members of the party.
According to him, the chairman promised to carry the new members along and also urged them to use their wealth of experience in politics and business activities to ensure the success of the party in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Sokoto PDP gubernatorial candidate, Malam Sa’idu Umar, also congratulated the new members and promised to work with them toward the success of the party.
Umar stated that “their decision has shown their collective zeal to support the good leadership style of Gov. Aminu Tambuwal.”
Lawali Lalala, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, said that their decision was a result of their conviction with the development strive by the PDP-led government in the state.
He promised their total loyalty and support to the PDP and assured them to work together with the party leadership in ensuring its success in the forthcoming general elections. (The Guardian)
