In order to ensure that Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, becomes the next president of Nigeria, his foremost support group, the Obi-Datti Frontiers, at the weekend, inaugurated its Southwest Zone in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The event coincided with the one-million-march in support of Peter Obi’s presidential ambition by his supporters in the capital of the former Western Region.

Speaking during the occasion which attracted many important dignitaries, including the leader of Igbo Community in Ibadan, in particular, and Oyo state, in general, High Chief Aloy Obi, the Obi-Datti Frontiers National Director for Contact and Mobilization, Nze Dr Okoli Amechi Sodiq, said that Peter Obi and Datti Ahmed’s aspiration have taken Nigeria by storm.

According to him, the impoverished Nigerian masses have seen Peter Obi and Datti Ahmed as their only hope of emancipation from bad governance, the more reason why they are trooping out in large numbers to support them.

He said that the main objective of government was protection of lives and property and creation of happiness.

However, he said that the current government in power at the centre has failed woefully in achieving that, adding that Nigeria was now a reflection of Thomas Hobbes concept of state, a place where life is brutish and short.

He said that the purpose for setting up Obi-Datti Frontiers in all the states of the federation was to have foot soldiers who would be spreading the message of hope and redemption which Peter Obi and Datti Ahmed represent.

At the event, Chief Iheonunaekwu George was inaugurated the coordinator of Southwest zone of Obi-Datti Frontiers, while Dr Chris Ezeh was made the secretary of the zone.

The state coordinators include Elder Patrick Anyanwu, Chief Michael Ubah, Chief Adol Okoli, Prince Uche Erondu, Chief Bernard Odoh, Hon. Elord, Samuel, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo Osun and Ekiti states, respectively.

Furthermore, Chief Maduka Obi was made Southwest Director of Contact and Mobilization, while Chief Mrs Oby Onwueze was made Zonal Organizing Secretary.

Speaking after the inauguration, the Coordinator of Lagos State, Patrick Anyanwu, commended the leadership of Obi-Datti Frontiers for finding them worthy to lead the struggle for the emancipation of Nigeria from the hand of bad and corrupt leaders in their respective states.

He promised that they would contribute their own quota to ensure that the noble project would become a reality.

Also contributing, Ogun State Coordinator, Chief Michael Ubah, said that the Peter Obi and Datti Ahmed aspiration has become the biggest movement in the history of Nigeria since independence.

He described it as a movement that has changed the Nigeria’s political equation and landscape.

Chief Ubah promised that they would not let down, the trust and responsibility that has been entrusted to them.
