Another big tree has fallen in the Nigerian advertising industry. The death of Mr. Kevin Amaechi was announced this afternoon by Alhaji Garba Bello Kankarofi, Registrar/CEO of Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).
“Mr. Amaechi passed on Saturay, April 27, at the age of 66,” Kankarofi said in a statement made available to News Express.
He said that “Kevin Amaechi belonged to the genre of Advertising practitioners who made their mark in broadcasting before discovering and pitching their career tent in advertising. He spent a large part of his advertising career at Lintas Lagos, where he rose to become Media Director and eventually Managing Director before retiring in 2002. He served a tenure on the Governing Council of APCON.”
Upon retiring from Lintas, the late doyen established and managed Greymata Limited, an ad consulting firm, and served as a resource person at several marketing communications courses.
He is survived by a wife and three children.
“A programme for his burial is expected to be released by his family,” Kankarofi said.
