Mr. Roland Ogboru, the Chief Executive Officer of Fred Foot Wear, a South Africa-based firm, says the company manufactures 12,000 pairs of shoes monthly.
Ogboru told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, that the firm had commenced export of its products to Malawi and Lesotho while it was exploring opportunities in other countries in the Southern African region.
He said the firm was founded in 2001 as a foot wear designing outfit, adding that in 2003 it began manufacturing of shoes.
“We design and manufacture safety shoes, casual and retail shoes for men, women and children.
“Within the foot wear industry, we have the men, women and children segments and we design and manufacture all.
“We have presence in African countries like Malawi and Lesotho and we are currently exploring the Southern African Region.
“It is only a matter of time; once we fully establish our regional Africa footprint, it becomes very conducive to consider exporting to other African countries besides the Southern African region.”
Ogboru said with the use of technology, the firm could distribute its products to any country.
“In the future, when the opportunity comes, we will explore other markets in Africa to distribute our products.”
Ogboru urged entrepreneurs interested in foot wear design and manufacturing to take up the challenge to create employment and wealth.
“The business has socio-economic rewards.” (NAN)
