By CHARLES IWUOHA
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Gubernatorial Candidate in Ebonyi State, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, at the weekend, unveiled his Campaign Secretariat in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The flag-bearer also unveiled one office each for the three senatorial zones of Ebonyi North, Ebonyi South, and Ebonyi Central.
Addressing party supporters while unveiling the campaign secretariat, Odii advised the electorate in the state to avail themselves ofthe ongoingContinuous Voter's Registration (CVR), which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended by 60 days.
Odii described Permanent Voter's Card as power and right of every citizen of the country to vote for the candidateof the choice, come 2023 polls.
The Candidate used the opportunity to present his Deputy Governorship Candidate, Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, and expressed optimism that the election would be a win-win issue for PDP and urged members to be united.
“I thank the three-man delegates for choosing me during the primaries. I urge all aggrieved members of our party to embrace peace in order for the party to win at all levels in the general elections.
“Politics of not being united will only slow us down over the strategies to win during the election, but we shall overcome them. Let's us come together in solidarity with a common purpose.
“The goal is to create wealth for the people, which I have been doing. We can transform Ebonyi together and we can do it come 2023.
“I am committed to diversifying the state’s economy and upscale the human empowerment indices for the people, if elected as governor.
“To the electorate, go and get your PVC and on the day of election, you go out and cast your vote and I believe your vote will surely count.
Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Governorship Candidate, Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, stressed the need for PVC and urged the people to ensure that they are registered in order to vote.
“In 2023, our vote must surely count. What happened in Ekiti State Governorship election is anything to go by. We will win and we are not going to be intimidated by any group or party.
“My joint ticket with Odii is well planned and we shall strengthen true governance to Ebonyi people come 2023,” Nwagu said.
Director-General Anyichuks Campaign Organisation, Mr. Solomon Onwe, said the importance of PVC in the forthcoming general elections could not be over-emphasised.
Onwe urged the stakeholders at the community level not to relent in sensitizing the public on the need for voter's card registration.
Chairman, Nigeria Youth Council, Ebonyi State chapter, Mr. Kelechi Igwe, pledged to deepen the sensitisation on voters’ card registration at the grassroots.
