Baring any last-minute change of mind, three federal lawmakers from Enugu State have concluded arrangements to dump the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The three lawmakers who are members of House of Representatives, News Express learnt, would be leaving to pursue their political carrier under a new platform after failing to secure return ticket under PDP.

An impeccable source told our Correspondent that the lawmaker came from two senatorial zones of the state.

“The plans are almost completed and I can tell you that it’s going to change the political landscape of Enugu State,” an aide to one of the lawmakers from Enugu North Senatorial Zone said.

“It’s not only him that’s leaving, I can confirm to you that there are two others from Enugu West Senatorial zone. My Boss might be seeking for a higher office under a new platform but I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag yet because the time is almost here and he will be making the big announcement,” the source added.

On the platform the decampees would be joining, the aide who doesn’t want his name in print because he’s not authorised to speak to the press on the matter, said: “Your guess is as good as mine on the platform it will be. I can assure you it has been dotted and the T almost crossed on this issue of platform.

“You are in this country and have seen the political party with the biggest momentum in the country presently. Our destination won’t be far from this platform that’s unlocking a new voting demography in our country. In the coming week, expect this big political announcement in Enugu State.”

A close source to one of the Lawmakers from Enugu West Senatorial Zone, said: “My oga will join other Labourers in the Obi’s vineyard. This will no longer be speculation in the coming days.

“My boss will most likely be contesting for the current position he’s occupying under Labour Party and I can assure you that nothing will stop him from clinching the position in February 2023.”

The source also disclosed that they’re consulting widely to get grassroots mobilisers to fly the ticket of the party in Enugu West Senatorial zone so they can stand a chance against the PDP at the polls.

He added that this move was slowed down by some factors but that his Boss and others from other zones are ready to take the decision.

News Expresslearnt that the delay was because of the permutations to draft one of the Governorship aspirants and former Deputy Senate President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, into the governorship race.

There are also speculations that a serving Senator will join the defectors but News Express couldn’t verify this as at press time.

Similarly, a former member of the House of Representatives from Enugu North Senatorial Zone who failed to pick the ticket of the PDP is tipped to be in the race too.
