Okei-Odumakin
By OLUWATOPE LAWANSON
Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, President, Women Arise for Change Initiative, has congratulated a former Lagos State governor, Sen. Bola Tinubu, on his emergence as the 2023 Presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okei-Odumakin, a human rights campaigner, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday said that Tinubu’s victory was what civility required.
NAN reports that Tinubu won the presidential ticket, defeating 13 other aspirants to emerge the flag bearer of the APC at the end of the Special National Convention of the party on Wednesday in Abuja.
Tinubu polled a total 1,271 delegates votes while Rotimi Amaechi, the immediate past Minister of Transportation, came second at the primary with 316 votes, and followed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who came third with 235 votes.
Okei-Odumakin, however, said that the problem of the Nigerian project had gone beyond the capacity of the Nigerian politician currently on display.
“To give Nigeria a fighting chance, we need to have a structure deliberately designed to absorb success.
“The existing structure repels success and this kind of leadership processing system would not produce the effective crop.
“We have seen that since 1999.”
She tasked Nigerians on good leadership structure that would propel growth and development.
“But we congratulate all the candidates as they emerge,” Okei-Odumakin said. (NAN)
