Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Sir (Dr.) Mike Mbama Okiro, will tomorrow, April 26, deliver a lecture on global security at Calendonian University, Glasgow, United Kingdom.
The ex-Nigerian police chief will speak on Re-thinking Global Security: An African
Perspective during the lecture to be held at the Govan Mbeki Conference Centre, Caledonian University, Glasgow, as part of the annual Scottish African International Business Conference and Exhibition.
News Express learnt that some of the grey areas the former IGP would touch in his lecture include global security versus globalisation; need for a new concept of national security; crime prevention and control as a concept; basic principles of the United Nations option of crime prevention and control; as well as determinants of effective policing and ideal policing model for Africa, among others.
The two-day conference would see Mr. Stephen House, Chief Constable of Police, Scotland, deliver a lecture on the European perspective of global security. Other speakers include Stephen House, on the topic “Security: African-European”, Sir Phillip Hampton (“The Role of the Financial Industry), and Humza Yousaf MSP, whose topic is “The Stock Exchange”.
