Hajiya Rabi Salisu Ibrahim, lone APC female senatorial aspirant, Kaduna Centrial Senatorial zone
By GARBA MUHAMMAD, Kaduna
Hajiya Rabi Salisu Ibrahim, a lone All Progressives Congress, (APC) female senatorial aspirant, Kaduna Centrial Senatorial zone, says over 50 members of the Kaduna Central APC Councilors’ Forum from 81 Wards in the zone, have endorsed her aspiration.
Hajiya Rabi is a renowned philanthropist, Founder and National Coordinator of ARRIDA Relief Foundation of Nigeria, a Kaduna-based NGO catering for orphans, women and vulnerable children, had attempted the House of Representative primaries in the APC but lost to Zayya Ibrahim in 2019.
Speaking with journalists in Kaduna on Tuesday, Hajiya Rabi also disclosed that 50 women group in the state were not left out in her endorsement.
“I have accepted the endorsement by over 50 members of the Kaduna Central APC Councilors’ Forum from 81 Wards in the zone at the weekend and that of the 50 women group.
“Their endorsement has emboldened my courage and enthusiasm to continue the struggle to improve the lives of not only the women, children and vulnerable groups in my zone but in Nigeria at large.
“I was really humbled at the turnout of the event at the weekend where the Councilors automatically endorsed my candidacy after I informed them of my political aspiration,” she said
According to her, “You know, the Councilors know the political terrains of the zone, as they are closer to the grassroots, so their endorsement means acceptance by the electorate.
“This speaks volume of their individual’s and several endorsement of my person as a worthy representative of not only people of my zone, but Nigeria at large,” she added
The APC senatorial hopeful added that she wants to be a voice for the vulnerable groups like Person With Disability, (PWDs), women and children by initiating policies that will favour this groups of Nigerians if elected.
“For too long the vulnerable groups has been sideline, excluded, discriminated, marginalized, traumatized and underrepresented in government policies, and political participation,” she said.
She vowed to sponsor bills that will positively affect rural people neglected by government policies
“So much has happened in the urban centres, hence I want to focus on the rural areas. I intend to bring more empowerment. Include women in agriculture and other businesses they could do to sustained themselves and families due to the rise in rape cases that has engulfed our society.
“Most of the women are the breadwinners of their families, but because they do not have the sustainability they sent their children to hawk goods, and nobody is concern about them because they’re the children of the masses. This is why I’m contesting the senatorial seat. I know the terrain having been to the grassroots. I know their problems,” she added.
