One-time Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, has been kidnapped, a report from his native Ondo State in South-West Nigeria said.
A Channels TV report says the former finance minister and presidential candidate was abducted this afternoon from his farm in Akure, the Ondo State capital, by unidentified gunmen. It is not yet clear to where they took him but Falae’s wife was quoted as saying that the kidnappers have established contact and are demanding a hefty ransom of N100 million to release the elder statesman who was born on September 21, 1938 and is now being forced to spend his 76th birthday in captivity.
