Governor Soludo L and Anambra South APGA Senatorial aspirant Ben Nwankwo
By CHARITY UZODIMMA
Ahead of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) primary elections, a notable socio-political pressure group known as Anambra Welfare Movement has warned politicians to stop distracting Gov Chukwuma Soludo.
The call “becomes necessary as one Mr Ben Nwankwo, an aspirant for Anambra South Senatorial District under the platform of APGA, has been deceitfully parading the streets as Governor Soludo’s anointed candidate,” the group said Saturday in a press statement released online.
The statement signed on behalf of Anambra Welfare Movement by a staunch member, Ms Rose Obioma Aniagoh, disclosed that the association “frowns seriously at anyone who is distracting Gov Soludo.”
The statement reads in part: “Please our erudite Philosopher King, should not be dragged into any tussle now. Everyone should quietly go to the Primaries which should be free, fair and transparent.
“Please, Anambra Welfare Movement should not tolerate any person or group distracting the Governor from doing his work. Nobody should peddle his name because he is a highly principled and very responsible man.
“Please we will not tolerate anyone distracting the governor. Go to the primaries.”
Anambra Welfare Movement recalled that Ben Nwankwo “had been cautioned by the party leadership to stop dragging Gov Soludo into the murky waters of Anambra South politics, but he threw caution to the winds, claiming that he was promised APGA ticket, part of the agreement he allegedly made with the governor.”
Continuing, the association said: “It is not surprising, though, Nwankwo’s campaign mantra has been “I’m Governor Soludo’s Senator”. As the APGA party primary elections approaches, the good people of Anambra South Senatorial Zone are battle-ready, set to destroy the infamous godfatherism virus militating against good conscience, fairness and equity. They will speak in one voice, and vehemently resist the politics of imposition in the party. The clock ticks!”
