Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has commenced the construction of 81km roads at different local government areas.
The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyang, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Eket, Akwa-Ibom, on Sunday.
Inyang said that the roads were in fulfilment of the governor’s campaign promises to sustain and provide critical infrastructure for the benefit of the people of the state.
He said the administration would on Sept. 22 commence construction of Ndon Uyo and Etinan Roads, bridge at Obot Akara and dualise Akwa Ibom Airport Road to Oron Local Government Area.
The commissioner identified paucity of funds as the bane of the administration, saying: “if the governor had more funds I am sure Akwa Ibom will jump on the streets celebrating.
“It means that if oil price was at the roof top as it used to be, so much would have been achieved in a short period.” (NAN)
