Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji (Dr.) Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, yesterday conducted the Peace Building Forum in Zaria for the Northern Senatorial Zone of the state.
A similar forum was held last week in Kagoro for the Southern Senatorial Zone while one will also be conducted for the Central Senatorial Zone in due course.
Speaking at the Palace of the His Royal Highness, Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, Governor Yero reiterated the resolve of his administration to bring lasting peace and security to all nooks and crannies of the state.
The governor said the initiative is aimed at listening to complaints and suggestions from all stakeholders in the state with a view to finding a permanent solution to the the challenges of peace and security in Kaduna State.
In his response, the Emir of Zazzau commended Governor Yero for his “well conceived initiative of peace building in the state.”
He expressed the readiness of the entire Zazzau Emirate Council and other traditional institutions of the State in entrenched of peace and security in the entire state.
Governor Yero met with traditional rulers, religious leaders as well as elders from the zone and leaders of Fulani communities who made submissions on ways to achieve permanent peace and security in the entire state.
In his closing remarks, the governor thanked all stakeholders for attending the forum and promised that government would look into all their submissions with the aim of fashioning out a road map for permanent peace and security in the state.
The two-day forum will continue today during which the governor will listen to youth and women leaders. The forum is open to all groups irrespective of political affiliations or any other interests.
