Police trains officers on implementation of TSA, GIFMIS

The Nigeria Police in Abuja on Saturday trained its officers on the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMIS).

President Muhammadu Buhari had on August 8, directed Federal Government Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) to pay all government revenues, incomes and other receipts into a Treasury Single Account (TSA).

The participants include; Pay Officers, Command Finance Officers and Officers in charge of Mechanised Salary Sections from the 36 states and the FCT.

Declaring the workshop open, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, said the policy was a constitutional matter that the present administration decided to implement.

Arase was represented by DIG Danazumi Doma, Director, Finance and Administration at the Force Headquarters.

He urged participants who were not ICT-compliant to begin to learn to be ICT-compliant as the policy was ICT-based.

The Inspector-General stressed that the workshop would help to address the grey areas that were likely to affect the implementation of the policy and operation of the police.

TSA is not going to affect the operations of the Nigeria Police Force that is the reason why we are organising this workshop to address the likely grey areas.”

Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Budget, Mr. Abdusalami Iyaji, said the workshop was organised to further improve the capacity of finance officers.

Iyaji said that the workshop would also help the officers to implement the financial reforms in the public sector.

Mr. Oke Adebayo, a staff of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and a Facilitator, said that at the end of the training, participants would be conversant with the platform.

“At the end of this training, I want to assure you that every user (participant) on the platform will be well equipped to use the system.”

He said that the training was critical as all government budgets would be rooted through the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS). (NAN)
