Crowd at eagle square, venue of APC convention
Commuters passing through the Federal secretariat and Eagle Square, venue of the National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Saturday trekked long distances to reach their destination.
Motorists and passengers faced a herculean task navigating through the thick traffic gridlock created by the blockage of almost all the roads leading to and outside the Eagle Square.
Some of those seen trekking the long distances due to the gridlock lamented that it was inhuman for the party to use its activities to disrupt the movement of others.
A lady, who gave her name simply as Linda, said she trekked for a long time looking for where to get a vehicle going to Lugbe on the outskirts of the city.
“I was told that I would get a vehicle in front of the Ministry of Finance building, but after finding my way there, I stood for a long time without getting any vehicle to board. I had to trek to after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) headquarters to get a vehicle,” she said.
Motorists going to Aya, Mararaba and Nyanya axis of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State were seen trying to navigate the gridlock.
A driver, Mister Ike said he had been trying to navigate through the traffic, adding that “it is because I know this place very well that I was able to find my way. Check many drivers today, nobody wants to come to this place. You can see for yourself. See the traffic and no fuel. Only God will help us,” he lamented.(Daily Trust)
