Controversy is developing over the shooting, this afternoon in Lagos, of Mr. Steve Nwosu, Editor of the large-circulating tabloid, Daily Sun.
While Transport & Business Express sources close to The Sun suggested that he might have been shot by assassins, some other sources attributed the shooting to armed robbers.
In its version of the story, Daily Independent newspaper said its own source “an editor of the Sun publishing company,” indicated that Mr. Nwosu was shot on his way from the bank. The report claimed that the robbers trailed Nwosu from a Zenith Bank branch “where he had gone to withdraw an undisclosed sum of money made away with the money after they shot him.”
Other details reported by the Lagos-based newspaper agreed with what Transport & Business Express published, which is that Mr. Nwosu was shot in the head at Mazamaza, survived the shooting and is presently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide who confirmed the incident to Independent said that no arrest was made. “I have just been informed of the incident,” she was quoted as saying.
The Sun Management is yet to issue a statement on the incident.
