Otti, Ikpeazu await fate as Abia Governorship Election Tribunal concludes hearing

The Abia State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia has concluded hearing on the matter between the petitioner, Dr Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The trial was concluded with the opening and closing of the defence by the third respondent, INEC, which tendered the certified true copy of the commission’s directory of polling units for Abia State without presenting any witness.

The petitioner, Dr.Otti, had earlier written to the tribunal citing inconsistency in the signatures during collation from the ward to the local government areas which According to the Counsel to INEC, Livy Uzoukwu is validated.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Usman Bwala has given each parties some number of days to write their submission and then, fixed October 14, for adoption of written address and submission by all parties.
