Corruption: PROTESTS TO ROCK ABUJA TOMORROW over pardon of Alamieyeseigha, others

Except in the unlikely event of a last-minute change of mind by the organisers, Abuja, the Nigerian capital, shall witness protests tomorrow over the worsening incidence of corruption in the country, especially the recent pardon granted former Bayelsa State Governor DSP Alamiesigha, among others.

Mobilisation for the protests being coordinated by the Say No Campaign-Nigeria group has already reached an advanced stage. This afternoon, the group issued a statement inviting the media and the Nigerian public to the anti-coruption rally.

In the statement entitled “Invitation to Attend and Cover Rally on Say No To Corruption Campaign” the Convener Auwal Musa (Rafsanjani) and Co-convener Ezenwa Nwagwu disclosed that the rally would start by 8:00 a.m.from the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

According to the statement: “The Say No Campaign-Nigeria is a platform committed to fighting corruption, impunity and promotes good governance and rule of law in Nigeria.

“The Say No Campaign-Nigeria has the pleasure of inviting you to attend and cover its rally. The rally is being organised to protest against corruption in Nigeria and in particular against the pardon granted to the former convicted DSP Alamiesigha, Bulama and others.

“The rally is scheduled to kick off as follows:

“Date: Wednesday, 10th April, 2013
“Time: 8.00am Prompt
“Venue: Labour House, Central Area, Abuja
