The difference President Muhammadu Buhari wants to make can only succeed by the realisation of his commitment to move away from past economic measures with only palliative effect on youth unemployment, in order to create jobs for the unemployed, through investments in our industries.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media to the President, Mr Garba Shehu, stated this yesterday on his Twitter handle, adding: “President Buhari’s job search for 65 per cent of the nation’s population, which is made up of youths, majority of whom are said to be jobless, is threatening the nation.”
He said: “President Buhari’s strategy and commitment in doing things differently to achieve maximum results is a matter of serious concern for the President, who campaigned on a promise to create more jobs.”
Mallam Shehu recalled that experts have warned a long time ago that Nigeria has been frittering away her demographic dividend, and that the President has been quick to see the danger, “which he describes as the next most potent for the nation after Boko Haram.”
