Keep off government property, Civil Defence warns vandals

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Lagos on Monday restated its warning to vandals to stay away from government infrastructure.

Mr. Chibuzor Mefor, spokesman of the Lagos State Command of the NSCDC, gave the warning while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Mefor said the corps had always been protecting government’s infrastructure from vandalism, adding that the corps would not relent in its responsibility.

He said that it was unpatriotic for anybody to destroy the critical infrastructure that were meant for the good of all.

“The Corps is working 24 hours to ensure that the entire critical government infrastructure are protected.

“We work round the clock and we also map out strategies from time to time with the aim to reduce vandalism to its barest minimum.

“Our patrol teams also monitor the entire critical infrastructure in Lagos on regular basis.

“Vandals should stay away from government properties as anybody caught will face the full wrath of the law.”

Mefor, while speaking on the increasing vandalism in areas where the pipelines passed through, he said that the NSCDC had stepped up its operations.

“The presence of our personnel is strongly felt in Ishawo and other pipeline vandalism prone areas.”

He urged the residents of the state to report to the security agencies any act that negated the purposes for which the infrastructure were meant. (NAN)
