A new Chairman has emerged for the Anambra State Chapter of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He is Egwu Oyibo Okoye, a lawyer and popular grassroots politician.

The coast became clear for Barrister Okoye to emerge unopposed after his would-be challenger, Chief Okey Mbonu (Agbalanze), declined his nomination.

As at the time of filling this report, the State Congress that has ushered in the Barrister Okoye era was still in progress at the Women and Children Development Centre in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

The congress is being attended by party members and stalwarts from all the 21 local government areas of the state, including Governor Peter Obi.

As earlier reported by News Express, it is being graced by a six-man delegation Nigeria’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
