Governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura on Saturday said that all projects initiated by his administration were meant to enhance the productive capacity of the people.
Al-Makura stated this during an inspection tour of Mararaba Orange Market Bridge being constructed by the government in Karu Local Government.
He gave the contractors handling the bridge one month to complete the project to boost the socio-economic development of the area.
“I want to re-state my commitment to the development of this state; to fight poverty, unemployment and to boost the standard of living of the people.
“All these projects I am embarking-on across the state, is to fight poverty, unemployment and other social vices among our people as well as to boost the socio-economic development of the state.
“I urge the contractors handling this bridge to ensure that the bridge is put into use in the next 30 days to alleviate the sufferings of road users along this area.
“Its completion will also reduce congestion because of the deplorable condition of the road due to the collapsed bridge.”
Al-Makura also said that he would soon embark on a seven-days working visit to Karu Local government area.
“As part of the seven days working visit, I will inspect priority project and map out strategies for the timely completion of the selected projects within the area.
“The projects for inspection are the Karu International market, access road in Kabayi, Angwan- Hashimu and the upgrading of the Mararaba Gurku General Hospital among others.”
He added that he would also use part of the visit to ensure that the task force along Keffi- Abuja high way, set up to ensure sanity along the road, was sustained.
The governor further said that he would map out areas suitable for traders in the informal sector to decongest the busy Keffi - Abuja highway. (NAN)
