•Say it is turn of Enugu East Zone

Enugu Youth Stakeholders have reaffirmed their support and commitment to the return of governorship seat of Enugu State to Enugu East Senatorial Zone, come 2023, in the interest of inclusiveness and fairness.

“The existing gubernatorial zoning system in Enugu State is currently in support of Enugu East senatorial zone and we, Enugu Youth Stakeholders, hereby reaffirm our support to that,” the stakeholders said in a communiqué.

The communiqué, which was made available to newsmen on Sunday, was issued at the end of a one-day Enugu Youths Stakeholders Meeting held in Enugu on Dec. 16, 2021.

The communiqué noted that the stakeholders were aware of some political jobbers and their sponsors who were in a desperate bid to truncate the established and equitable rotation/zoning.

It cautioned such political actors and their apologists to desist from such selfish and unprogressive ventures, as an attempt to alter the zoning arrangement would be swiftly resisted with full force by the teeming population of the state’s youths.

The communiqué read in part: “We hereby call on the leadership of all political parties and political blocs in Enugu State to acknowledge and take note of the zoning arrangement during nomination and fielding candidates for party primaries and general elections.

“We thank the All Progressives Congress (APC) for standing by the side of equity and fairness by zoning their gubernatorial ticket to Enugu East Senatorial Zone already.

“We call on the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) in the state and other political parties in the state to officially and publicly tow the same line,” it said.

The stakeholders thanked Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for always standing by the side of truth, peace, equity and justice, hence the zoning arrangement.

“That we are happy with the peace, unity, progress and development of Enugu State which has been enthroned by justice, equity and fairness.

“That we have thoroughly reviewed the existing peace and political stability currently being enjoyed by Ndi Enugu and have acknowledged that it's anchored on the principle of inclusion, fairness and equity which is established by the generally accepted zoning system in the state.

“That the Enugu gubernatorial zoning pact is a tripod arrangement made to include all the three senatorial zones in Enugu State; thus, Enugu East, Enugu West and Enugu North Senatorial Zones,” the Communiqué added.

The communiqué was jointly signed by 11 youths representing the three senatorial zones in the state.

They include: Ambassador Mark Onuoha,Mr Humphrey Oyima, Comrade Judith Ani, Comrade Esther Ogbuefi, Mr Roy Ekwueme and Mr Benneth Ngwu.

Others are:Mr Chisimdi Okoh,Mr Cyril Ezeh, Mr Paschal Ugwu, Comrade Bartho Okoh and Comrade Edeani Edeani.
