Ekiti PDP expels four executives over anti-party activities

The lingering crisis in Ekiti State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has taken another dimension as the state executive committee expelled four members of the state executive for anti-party activities.

Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti, the Chairman of the Party, Mr. Idowu Faleye said the decision was taken after serious investigations.

However, in a swift reaction to the expulsion, one of the suspended executives, Mr. Tope Aluko, described the expulsion as a joke and alleged that Mr. Faleye is not a confirmed member of the party.

The suspended officials are State Secretary of the party; Mr. Tope Aluko, Women Leader; Busola Oyebode, Vice Chairman (North); Tunde Olatunde and Assistant Secretary; Tunji Olanrewaju from the party.

The 16 local government secretaries of the party have declared their support for the expulsion of the former executives

The secretaries, who made this known in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday and signed by the Chairman of the group, Bayo Awe, also hailed the emergence of Mr. Adejorin Temitope as the State Secretary of the party.

Mr. Awe, who is also the Ado Local Government PDP Secretary, said the expulsion of the four members of the party, especially Aluko was long overdue.

He pledged the unalloyed support and loyalty of the party secretaries to the new state secretary, the party as a whole and Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

The secretaries, who described the roles played by Aluko during the impeachment saga as ignoble, warned that the party will no longer tolerate indiscipline and disloyalty among its members.

“If you are not comfortable with the party and its leader, Governor Fayose, the most honourable thing to do is to leave the party instead of working with opposition to destroy the party from within.

“Expulsion of Aluko in particular will serve as deterrent to others who see themselves as too big for the party and also instill discipline in the party.” (Channels TV)
