Ebonyi APC Chairman Emegha
By CHARLES IWUOHA
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has mocked the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) for day-dreaming to return to Ebonyi Government House in 2023.
The progressive party said the PDP will continue to remain in opposition and urged the party to realize that there was a great difference between fantasy and reality.
Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, said no amount of fantasy or day-dreaming would help the opposition party which, he said, lacks the focus, cohesion and number needed to win any future election anywhere in the state, let alone the Governorship of the state.
Emegha was reacting to a statement credited to the Chairman of the PDP in the state, Mr. Tochukwu Okorie.
Mr. Okorie had on Friday, during the state executive committee meeting of the PDP in Abakaliki, advised the ruling APC to start preparing to handover power to PDP in 2023.
But Chief Emegha in a swift reaction said the opposition party was only day-dreaming, adding that the party clearly lacks the membership, support base and the requisite political know-how needed to dethrone the APC in Ebonyi in 2023.
He stated that APC has come to stay in Ebonyi state and would continue to be a ruling party in the state while PDP will continue to wallow in a circle of self-deceit and confusion.
“My attention has been drawn to a news report in the media credited to the factional Chairman of the PDP in Ebonyi state, Mr. Tochukwu Okorie, where he hallucinated that PDP was sleep-walking to Ebonyi Government House in 2023.
“I hope that PDP will be able to understand the difference between fantasy and reality. The reality is that the PDP is an opposition party in Ebonyi state and will continue to remain so even beyond 2023.
“While Mr. Tochukwu Okorie and his faction of the PDP are busy day-dreaming to sleep-walk themselves into Ebonyi Goverment House, he is obviously unaware that many of his party leaders are in serious talks to join APC, and that will happen very soon.
“The message is that PDP remains an opposition party in Ebonyi State, and will continue to remain in opposition because the people of Ebonyi State have moved to the APC in solidarity with Governor David Umahi and President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Ebonyians, including the one parading himself as PDP Chairman, are very much aware that we have never had it so good in infrastructure, human capital development and every indices of development in the state courtesy of Governor Umahi’s visionary leadership. And because of this, Ebonyians will continue to support his government and politics.”
