The National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj.-Gen. Babagana Munguno (rtd), on Saturday said security operatives fighting the Boko Haram would cultivate a new relationship with the civil populace to quickly end insurgency in the country.

Munguno, accompanied by the service chiefs, stated this in Damaturu when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Ibrahim Gaidam.

He said a strong military/civilian relationship based on trust and mutual respect would facilitate effective fight against insurgency.

The NSA said the visit was for the service chiefs to assess the situation on ground, discuss with political leaders and the people, so as to effectively restrategise and quickly end the Boko Haram menace.

Munguno assured that the Federal Government would soon commence the reconstruction of communities and rehabilitation of people dislocated by the Boko Haram attacks.

He urged the people of Yobe to regard the military as partners with a common mission to end insurgency and restore peace to the North East.

Governor Gaidam in his response commended the federal government for “the new commitment and political will in the fight against insurgency.

"There is a practical difference in commitment and political will by President Buhari administration in the fight against insurgency.”

The governor assured that his administration would mobilize the people to offer massive support and cooperation to all security agencies in the state.

Gaidam also said the Yobe government would provide logistic to support to security agencies in order to restore peace and stability in the state. (NAN)
