Imo begins verification of displaced persons in 27 LGAs

The Imo State Government has commenced verification of internally displaced persons in all the 27 local government areas of the state with a view to giving them a new lease of life.

Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), Sir Jude Ejiogu, made this open when he had a crucial meeting with the 27 Directors of Administration and General Services (DAGS) in the state on Monday at the Cabinet office, along Sam Mbakwe Road, Owerri.

Sir Ejiogu while disclosing the readiness of the state government in ensuring that Imolites were given a sense of belonging, further directed the 27 Directors of Administration and General Services in the state to compile and submit names of all internally displaced persons to enable government take urgent actions.

Continuing, the SGI urged the 27 DAGS to embark on radical sensitisation exercise geared towards educating the rural people in various council areas on the need to be cautious during the ongoing rainy season to avoid the reoccurrence of what the state witnessed in the previous years, where individuals where sacked from their homes as a result of natural disasters.

Sir Ejiogu while advising the DAGS to continue to instill discipline in their various LGAs, maintained that the only way to achieve that or lead their subordinates as role models was to come to work on time with government’s recommended attire.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Chief R.O. Dike commended the SGI for the meeting, and appealed to the state government to give more attention to LGAs, while assuring of their willingness to continue to support the rescue mission administration of Governor Okorocha.
