Ex-Bayelsa deputy gov rules out defection to APC

A former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi, has denied reports in some national newspapers that he has decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ebebi’s denial was contained in a statement on Monday in reaction to media reports, stated that, he “never discussed any defection plans with anybody or group of persons.”

He described the report as the figment of the imagination of the reporters and should be disregarded.

According to him, he “remains a PDP member since the advent of the present dispensation,” and will “remain a committed PDP member, despite the party’s failure to retain power at the centre.”

While describing himself as “a loyal PDP member,” he pledged his commitment to the success of the party in the forthcoming governorship election in the State and enjoins Bayelsans not to allow themselves to be deceived by the wave of defections, as the PDP remains the real party of Bayelsans.
