Gov’s wife urges NGOs to sustain people-oriented programmes

Wife of Niger State Governor, Dr. Amina Bello, has called on non-governmental organisations to sustain their support for the less privileged members of the society.

She made the call on Sunday during the inauguration of the 29th District Chairman, and executives of the Inner Wheel District 913, Nigeria in Bida Local Government Areas of Niger.

Bello urged the Inner Wheel to continue to be a partner in complementing the new administration's effort at improving the standard of living for citizens of the state.

“I commend the humanitarian gesture of the Inner Wheel for embarking on meaningful projects that touch and affect the lives of the people.”

Bello who was represented by a Director in the state ministry, Mrs. Mary Yisa assured the district of collaboration in all gender related projects and programmes.

The District 913 Chairman, Mrs. Florence Arogundade said the district would uphold the aims and objectives of Inner Wheel.

She pointed out that the Wheel would continue to promote true friendship, encourage ideas of personal service to foster local, national and international understanding and friendship.

Arogundade said that the district would embark on more projects such as sinking of boreholes as well as widows and youth empowerment.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of sewing machines to two beneficiaries by the newly inaugurated executive. (NAN)
