Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), Sir Jude Ejiogu, has charged traditional rulers in Imo State on the need to be hard work, diligent and dedicated to duties, maintaining that it was the only way they can perform optimally in the discharge of their duties as royal fathers.
Sir Ejiogu stated this during separate meetings he had with some selected traditional rulers from the three geo-political zones of the state at the Cabinet Office, along Sam Mbakwe road, Owerri.
The SGI while hinting further reminded them on the need to reside within their communities as custodians of culture and tradition, stressing that reason why traditional rulers stay away from collecting their cheques was an indication that they live abroad, and described the meeting with them as part of the verification exercise to ascertain those living within or abroad.
Sir Ejiogu, who is the immediate past Chief of Staff, Government House, therefore directed those affected to get clarification from appropriate authorities, and warned that government would not tolerate any further recalcitrant attitude.
He therefore maintained that the meeting was in line with the rescue mission administration’s efforts to re-awaken the consciousness of leaders with a view to making them more productive.
