Ministers: Don’t appoint selfish politicians, group tells Buhari

The Niger-Delta Youth Vanguard for All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to appoint selfish leaders from the Niger Delta region of the country.

The group also called for the probe of the leadership of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC) and past administrators of the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) over alleged sharp practices in the two sectors.

In a statement signed by its President, Comrade Fredrick Ujobolo, Secretary and Public Relations Officer, Comrades Gordons Oweiware and Bounty Omokoro, and made available to journalists, the group said Buhari’s government should appoint only those with the fear of God into his administration for the purpose of good governance and accountability.

The group also blamed the underdevelopment of the Niger Delta region on their selfish party leaders and those past leaders appointed from the region to head the commission, expressing confidence that with the emergence of Buhari, the region would experience rapid and meaningful development.

Besides, it called on the president to be mindful of sycophants and those who cross carpet after the presidential election, advising the president not to ignore those who had suffered for the party against those who came after the presidential election.

“Those who deprive us and say APC cannot work in the Niger-Delta region are the same people singing praises of Buhari’s administration because their plans had failed and now see themselves as members of APC, when they don’t know how the party got to this level,” the statements said.
