The Kaduna State Police Command has discovered an illegal arm factory in Kafanchan, Jama’a Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna.
Parading the two suspected arm manufacturers and their illegal tools and manufactured weapons on Friday at the State Head Quarters in Kaduna, the Commissioner of Police, Shehu Ambursa said on the 29/7/15 at about 3:30pm, following a tip-off, Kafanchan Police Area Command “swung into action and raided the residence of one. Bulus Kinze and James Kinze both of Kogun village.
“The premises is suspected to be used for illegal manufacturing of arms and ammunitions and served as main suppliers to armed bandits,” he said.
Items recovered, according to the CP, include: two locally made. AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistols, two locally made pistols, two police coloured AK-47 Magazines, one locally made ALK-47 Magazines, one locally made AK-47 Magazines,20 live 0.36 special, revolver ammunition, three live 7.62mm long Lar ammunition, three live catridges, one live 5.56mm, T.6 ammunition, 14 empty shells of 7.62mm short , AK-47 ammunition, 17 empty shells of 0.36 special revolver pistols ammunition, hand drills, drilling machines used in production of rifles, some instruments for fabrication of rifles, some assorted charms among others.
The police also paraded one armed robbery suspect named Umar Usman alias Zidane who is a ring leader of different notorious gangs such as armed robbery, arm manufacturing and supply, act of terrorism, cattle rustling and car snatching at gun point across Kaduna, Abuja, Kogi and Zamfara State.
Ambursa said during the course of investigation, 13 other suspects were arrested at various criminal hideouts in the state.
The CP reassured the public of the readiness of the command to rid the state of all criminal elements in respective religions, tribes and status.
He urged residents to continue assisting the command with useful information to track down criminals from the nook and crannies of the state.
