Image managers of President Muhammadu Buhari do not know what they are doing, veteran journalist and public affairs analyst, Mr. Jimi Disu, has said. Buhari’s image is managed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, and Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.
Mr. Disu, who is also a public and media relations expert, gave an unflattering verdict on the duo while co-hosting yesterday’s edition of the popular Classic FM Lagos breakfast programme, ‘Front Page News & Analysis’.
“With due respect, the President’s handlers do not know what they are doing,” Jimi Disu said while reacting to Buhari’s appearance on an NTA breakfast programme on Monday.
“Why put him on an NTA breakfast programme when you should have put him on a Presidential Media Chat so that Nigerians can ask him questions on the direction he is going?” Mr. Disu asked.
He berated Adesina and Shehu for putting their principal “on a station which most people in the urban areas do not even bother to tune into.”
Mr. Disu noted that such a mistake would not have occurred if Buhari has assembled his cabinet, in which case he would have had an information minister who would have properly advised him on the issue.
