Thirty persons have been rescued from the hands of Boko Haram terrorists in Kwayabe and Wufe wards of Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State in the country’s troubled North-East.

“They include 21 children and a six-day-old infant, seven women including three nursing mothers and two elderly male adults,” Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman Kukasheka, said late yesterday.

Col. Usman disclosed in a statement that the former captives were liberated on Sunday by troops of 7 Division of the Nigerian Army “as a result of ongoing operations under the aegis of OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE to clear Dikwa and its environs from Boko Haram terrorists.”

He also announced that the troops during the operation “discovered a training shed inside the vandalised and looted Palace of the Shehu of Dikwa where weapon handling and engagement of aircraft were being taught to new Boko Haram terrorist recruits.”
