The sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has raised anxiety over the fate of the ongoing Nigerian National League (NNL) Super Eight Playoff holding in Enugu.
The competition began on Tuesday with eight teams drawn from the two conferences, Savannah and Atlantic.
Teams at the competition, yesterday, expressed their apprehension over the ‘threat’posed by the Biafran agitators, who ordered the sit-at-home to protest President Muhammadu Buhari’s scheduled visit to the South East today. All businesses and markets in the South East are expected to be shut in deference to the IPOB call.
Meanwhile, yesterday’s heavy down pour in Enugu disrupted matches of the competition.
The game between Gombe United and DMD of Borno was called off in the 33rd minute.
At time the game was abandoned by the match officials, Gombe United were leading 1-0.
There is confusion over the fate of the game as organisers have moved matches billed for today to tomorrow. This include the game between Bendel Insurance and Ekiti United.
Group B leaders, 3SC and Remo Stars played out a 1-1 draw yesterday to top the group on four points.
