Normalcy returns to Gombe parks after Boko Haram attacks

The Police have confirmed the return of normalcy in Dadin/kowa and Dukku motor parks in Gombe, after the twin-blast that occurred on Wednesday night at the parks.

Police Public Relations Officer of Gombe State Command, DSP Fwaje Atajiri, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Thursday that people were going about their normal activities at the parks.

Atajiti said that security personnel had cordoned off the parks Wednesday after the incidents, to protect lives and avert possible looting by hoodlums masquerading as sympathizers.

He said the parks were opened for normal activities after the anti-bomb squad had combed the environment to ensure safety of people.

``You know when things like this happen, it is not everybody that goes there to sympathize; some people will go there with a different motive,’’ he said.

Atajiri called on the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement or unusual parcel found around them, to the security agents.

According to him, the official casualty figures secured from the hospitals in respect of Wednesday's blasts, are 30 dead and 105 injured.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that there were explosions at Dadin/kowa and Dukku Motor Parks on Wednesday night.

The first explosion at Dadin/kowa Park occurred at about 7:30 pm, while the second followed at about an hour after the first one. (NAN)
